Waterproofing (Wet Areas)
In bathrooms and kitchens, a cementitious waterproof membrane is applied and pond tested before tiling. This critical step is never skipped.
Tile Layout & Precision Cutting
Tiles are dry‑laid to determine the optimal starting point and minimise small cuts. We use wet saws for dust‑free, chip‑free cutting, especially for large and expensive tiles.
Adhesive Application & Laying
Thin‑set adhesive is combed onto the substrate, and each tile is set with level spacers. We constantly check with a spirit level to maintain a flat plane.
Grouting, Cleaning & Polishing
After 24 hours, we fill joints with epoxy or cementitious grout, clean off haze, and polish the surface. Expansion joints are filled with flexible sealant where required.
For homogeneous floor tiles, we recommend a 2mm to 3mm grout joint using matching grout colour. This allows for minor substrate movement while maintaining a near‑seamless appearance.
Yes, provided the existing tiles are firmly bonded and not hollow. We will conduct a tap‑test and advise if an overlay is feasible. Overlay saves time and hacking costs but may raise the floor level slightly.
We use flexible tile adhesive and allow adequate expansion gaps around the perimeter of the room. Proper curing of the screed below also prevents trapped moisture from causing adhesive failure.
